SDI Participating in September Events

SDI is excited to announce its participation at two significant events taking place in Brazil this September.  On September 1st, Carmen Castillo—Founder and CEO of SDI International—will join a select group of individuals at the Trailblazers Summit: Transformations in Sourcing from Women, in helping to establish a strategic plan that empowers women’s business enterprises to trade globally.

Joining Ms. Castillo at this global council—convening at the Intercontinental Hotel in São Paulo—are influencers and decision makers from the private sector, government, and academia.  Charged with developing a blueprint for change in procurement practices, these eclectic variety of thought leaders will outline the steps necessary to stimulate growth and leadership for women suppliers. By 2020 the organization hopes to have one million trained, market-ready, women-owned SMEs and growth enterprises worldwide.

Following the Summit, Ms. Castillo will engage over 400 participants from 40 countries at the 2015 Women Vendors Exhibition and Forum, to be held at the Maksoud Plaza Hotel  on September 2nd and 3rd.

Co-sponsored by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and Apex-Brasil (The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), the goal of this networking exhibition and forum is to expose women-owned vendors to a larger market via training and skill development, and to facilitate buyer relationships and engagement. Additionally, buyers will acquire access to new supplier diversity management methodologies, as well as an expanded selection of capable, diverse suppliers. A designated interactive exhibition area will act as the venue for an extensive number of one-on-one vendor/buyer B2B meetings.

Speakers will include Arancha González, Executive Director of ITC; David Barioni Neto, President of ApexBrasil; and Sandra Boccia, Director of Editora Globo . Additional remarks will be heard from founding partner representatives: International Women’s Coffee Alliance, Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Quantum Leaps and WEConnect International .

The Trailblazers Summit and Vendor Exhibition and Forum have aligned strong sponsors to help ensure globally-inclusive supply chains. The International Trade Centre, which is a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, helps to ensure that business enterprises in emerging markets become and remain competitive.

ApexBrasil is a Brazilian trade organization working to promote Brazilian products and services abroad, and to attract foreign investment to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy. Based out of Brasília, ApexBrasil maintains nine offices in eight countries around the world.
