Tara Baitsholts
general Counsel and Global Program Manager

What drew you to a career in Procurement?

As an attorney, I was naturally drawn to Procurement due to its strong focus on contract management and negotiation.

My legal background made the transition seamless, as I’ve always found the challenges of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts both engaging and rewarding. Procurement allows me to combine my expertise in law with a strategic approach to managing relationships and delivering value, which has been incredibly fulfilling.

What skills do you think are most important for success in your role?

In my role, strong negotiation skills and attention to detail are essential, as they ensure contracts are both favorable and compliant. Equally important is adaptability—Procurement is a dynamic field, and being able to pivot when challenges arise is key to success.

Another critical skill is fostering relationships, both within the team and with external partners. Building trust and maintaining open communication helps create long-term value for the organization. Lastly, a strategic mindset is vital for aligning Procurement activities with broader organizational goals, ensuring that every decision contributes to success on a larger scale

How do you keep your team motivated, especially during tough times?

Motivating a team during tough times requires a combination of communication, collaboration, and recognition. Open communication is key—I encourage my team to voice their challenges and concerns, fostering an environment where they feel supported. In turn, I strive to be transparent about the reasons behind increased workloads or difficulties, helping them see the bigger picture.

Collaboration is equally important. Creating a team culture where colleagues can rely on one another during challenging periods strengthens morale and builds trust. Finally, recognizing achievements and hard work, even in small ways, goes a long way in keeping the team motivated and appreciated.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy staying active through running and yoga, both of which help me stay focused and balanced. I also love spending time with friends and family, creating memories and recharging.

During the spring and summer months, I particularly enjoy relaxing at the beach, which offers a perfect mix of tranquility and fun.
